Evans Eliminator 1 Classic Lead 80s - Black
If you don't know, Evans pickups were noiseless strat replacements and humbuckers made in Victoria BC by Rod Evans……….some info attached below
They're constructed a lot like Fralin Split Blades with the two coils covering three strings each. Evans used Alnico rods, and extra magnets in the neck and middle models to act more like a blade. On paper, they have a high DC resistance (12k-18k) but a resonant peak in the 7kHz range. They always used closed plastic covers in glossy black, white, or red. They have a three-pin harness connector underneath rather than hard-wired leads.
Their most famous endorser Mr. Jeff Healey
Jeff Healey: “They’re generally stock except that I’ve changed the pickups and put in some made by a fellow in Victoria, British Columbia, named Rod Evans, who’s made an improvement on the original things. His single-coil pickups to me, are the perfect combination of the standard single-coils and the humbuckers. I love them. They sound wonderful.”
The finest High Output Vintage style Noiseless pickups you will ever hear.
These do not come up for sale ever. Those who have them keep them.
Jeff healey, Colin James, David Gogo and even Stevie Ray Vaughan had a set for studio recording because they are dead quiet.
About Rod Evans
Rod Evans is a bit of a west coast legend. A guitarist for over 25 years and electronic craftsman extraordinaire, he has always tried to improve musical equipment. At fifteen he modified his first guitar, a Fender “Music Master” by building and installing his first handmade pickup. Soon after, he began building custom amps for west coast musicians. His dedication to uncompromised quality earned him a reputation as “the best tube amp technician on the coast.”
With a vision to build the quietest premier pickups on the market, Rod created the Eliminator Series, and today, musicians around the world are happy he did.
The Eliminator Series Pickups are direct replacements for all single-coil pickups and are designed to slip into position with no modifications. Installation is a snap too as Evans uses a convenient three-pin clip making hookup quick and clean.
