Evans used Alnico rods, and extra magnets in the neck and middle models to act more like a blade. On paper, they have a high DC resistance (12k-18k) but a resonant peak in the 7kHz range. They always used closed plastic covers in glossy black, white, or red. They have a three-pin harness connector underneath rather than hard-wired leads.
